The work of Kirsty Elson

Lotty told me about the work of Kirsty Elson as my wooden work reminded her of Kirsty.   You can see here Kirsty's work is actually creating houses and buildings from wood, which is slightly different to mine.

The piece above of the caravan looks as though it is on textured paper background and then a wood piece has been created.   Very simple, clean and rustic looking and with bunting !

During my tutorial with Emma last week, she talked to me about some work she had seen where it had a background in a deep frame and then the piece sat forward in the frame (that's not a very good description).

The piece above is using textiles and stitch.   With my pieces, I am trying to include textiles in some way.  Do you know this is the first time that I've really had to keep sampling something.  My work to date over the past couple of years has generally been an out pouring of emotions onto paper, textiles or other medium.  This time, I'm trying to create something from scratch.  It's bloody hard and time consuming.   I will keep going though.

I am happy with the bunting I created, but now I need the right picture to put it on.   I am doing a cottage onto wood which is currently drying off, so I am hoping it will look ok on there.  If not, then I may have to look at adding something else textile related to the cottage picture (shown below).   I did put this image onto fabric using heat transfer as previously mentioned, and I made a feature of the pink flowers using a French knot so I may be able to do something similar on here.
